Analysts Say General Mills Yogurt Has A ‘Halo Of Health’

David Browne, a senior analyst at market researcher Mintel International, says there is a lot of growth available yet for a 5,000-year-old product (yogurt), and General Mills is looking to capitalize.

"The thing about the yogurt category is that it's very well positioned for innovation," Browne told the Star Tribune recently. "It's just a type of food that's really open to a lot of interpretations." General Mills' Yoplait division had $1.5 billion in U.S. retail sales in its last fiscal year, 15 percent of total U.S. retail sales. General Mills says yogurt has a "halo of health," and it's looking for more sales opportunities.
