Canadian Cheese Rolling Festival Recognized At The International Dairy Innovation Awards

The Canadian Cheese Rolling Festival, created by Dairy Farmers of Canada, was recently selected as a finalist at the 2013 Dairy Innovation Awards.

The finalists and winners were announced recently at a special gala dinner during the 7th Global Dairy Congress in Lucerne, Switzerland.

The Dairy Innovation Awards recognizes excellence and creativity across the international dairy industry and provides the perfect platform to demonstrate the dairy industry’s continued commitment to innovation. Since 2007, the Dairy Innovation Awards, organized and presented by FoodBev Media, have celebrated ingenuity and innovation.

There were 140 entries from 23 countries competing in 15 categories. Dairy Farmers of Canada’s Canadian Cheese Rolling Festival was nominated and selected as one of three finalists in the Best Marketing Campaign category, alongside British Columbia Dairy Association’s Music Makes More Milk and Kindred/The British Cheese Board’s National Anthem for Cheddar.

Activities to promote the Canadian Cheese Rolling Festival included a multi-faceted marketing campaign, including print and broadcast advertising, restaurant and in-store promotions, and public relations in British Columbia.

The Canadian Cheese Rolling Festival will be held again on August 17th, 2013 beginning at noon in Whistler, British Columbia. The afternoon will feature cheese rolling races, cheese tastings and seminars, a costume contest and other fun activities for the whole family. This one-of-a-kind activity in Canada will be celebrating its sixth anniversary on Blackcomb Mountain.
