Challenge Butter Hosts Celebrity Chef Holiday Recipe Challenge For Charity

Dublin, Calif. – Challenge® Butter, the largest butter brand in the West, today kicked off its inaugural “Recipe for Caring” Holiday Celebrity Chef Challenge” where three celebrity chefs are vying to win cash to donate to charities of their choice. Voting fans have the opportunity to win cash or holiday bakeware prize packs from Good Cook®.

The contest, hosted on www.ChallengeDairy.com/RecipeforCaring, profiles the three chefs alongside their specially created holiday recipe. The winning chef will receive $5,000 to donate towards his or her charity of choice. The runner-up chefs will receive $2,500 each to put towards their chosen charities. As an added bonus, one lucky voter will also win $2,500. Coupons and holiday bakeware prize packs are also up for grabs to other voters.

Host of the long running Food Network series "Sweet Dreams", aired on the Cooking Channel,Gale Gand is a founding executive pastry chef and partner of the Five Diamond, four star and Michelin-starred restaurant TRU in Chicago. She was named pastry chef of the year by The James Beard Foundation and Bon Appétit magazine in 2001 and has appeared on "Iron Chef America", "Martha Stewart", Baking With Julia (Child)", Oprah, and judged Bravo's "Top Chef" and "Top Chef Just Desserts", among other cooking shows. Gand’s recipe is Coconut Pecan Butter Crunch Cookies. Gand’s charity is her local food bank, West Deerfield Food Bank.

Currently the food correspondent for the nationally syndicated morning show, The Daily Buzz, and contributing editor forPARADE and dash magazine, JON ASHTON began his culinary career in several notable English restaurants, including the Derby Lodge Hotel and The Kirkfield Hotel in Newton Le-Willows. As a father, Jon is committed to making mealtimes across America matter again. You can catch Jon as he appears across the country on the “Dash Around the Table Tour.” His recipe is Savory Olive & Parmesan Scones made with Lindsay® Olives and his charity is the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee, a member of Feeding America.

Drawing on her fine dining experience with culinary greats Chef Wolfgang Puck, Chef Fred Eric and Chef Gordon Ramsey, Avery Pursell burst on to the national food scene in 2012 by winning the Bravo TV Series "Around the World in 80 Plates" hosted by Chefs Curtis Stone and Cat Cora. Avery is the owner and Executive Chef of All Diced Up, a LA-based private dining and restaurant consultation service. Her recipe is Apple Pie with Hot Buttered Rum Sauce and her charity isHIS KIDS (Happiness Is Serving Kids in Distress Situations.) HIS KIDS helps families affected by childhood cancer.
