LONGUEUIL, QC – Farmers Co-operative Dairy (Farmers) and Agropur Cooperative (Agropur) are extremely proud to announce that they have successfully finalized the steps leading to the merging of activities of the two dairy cooperatives.

"Farmers Dairy has always been a leader in the Atlantic Dairy industry and this merger is the next step in the evolution of that continued leadership. The new Agropur Cooperative allows us to continue to produce and process our milk locally while benefiting from the advantages of being part of a larger national cooperative," stated Jeannie van Dyk, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Farmers and a dairy producer in Noel Shore, Nova Scotia.

According to Serge Riendeau, Chairman of the Agropur Board of Directors and a dairy producer in Coaticook, Québec: "This is a great day for our cooperatives. We have known and worked together for over 25 years and this merger puts us in an excellent position to ensure the longevity of the dairy industry all across Canada. It also allows our members to focus their efforts on marketing their milk through a major Canadian cooperative. That is the true spirit of cooperation."
