Got Fuel? Newman Smith H.S. Receives Award For Drinking Chocolate Milk

Newman Smith head football coach Paul Ressa has been giving his players chocolate milk after every practice this year to help them recover quicker and be ready to play the next day. Last Wednesday he was awarded for his actions.

Ressa and the school received $1,000 on behalf of the Refuel America – Got Milk? campaign. At the event, students were given chocolate milk, were treated to performances from the cheerleaders and drill team and listened to former Dallas Mavericks all-star Rolando Blackman talk to them about the importance of drinking chocolate milk after a workout.

“When I have an opportunity to talk to kids, I always think it is a great honor,” Blackman said. “This program really teaches kids that chocolate milk as an after-workout supplement is very beneficial to them and will help them recover quicker by giving them the nutrients their bodies need.”
