Hearings To Spotlight Longtime Rift Between Dairymen, Cheesemakers

Another chapter is about to be written in the battle between the state’s two main dairy interests — those who produce milk and those who use it to make cheese.

Next month in Clovis, the rift between dairy producers and dairy processors will be on full display when the U.S. Department of Agriculture holds public hearings in advance of deciding if California should be included in a federal milk marketing order.

The hearings, projected to last from a few weeks to a month, will take place beginning September 22 in Clovis at the Veteran’s Memorial Building.
