"Man Dip" Making Inroads To Bigger Stage

Coming soon— maybe — to a Walmart near you:

• T-shirts with hidden images that appear when wet

• A solar-powered lunch bag that claims to stay cold “forever”

• “We the People” silver bracelets with descriptions of Constitutional amendments on each bead

These are a few of the top 10 finalists in Walmart’s “Get on the Shelf” contest. Now it’s up the online voting public to determine which product will get a shot at being carried in select stores.

More than 4,000 people flooded the contest with entries of their often-wacky inventions they think could have mass appeal.

But an American Idol-style voting contest is not the only way to get your product on the shelf. Just ask Dr. Ted Mimlitz. At that time, he and his partner Andy Wolf had just launched Man Dip in local Schnucks, Dierbergs and Shop ‘n Save stores.
