Oakhurst Dairy Raises $20K For The Salvation Army Through Egg Nog Campaign

PORTLAND, MAINE — Oakhurst Dairy, northern New England’s largest independent family-owned dairy company, announced today that its 13th annual Egg Nog campaign to support The Salvation Army of Northern New England raised $20,000. Through this annual fundraising initiative, Oakhurst donates five cents for every container of Egg Nog sold during the holiday season. To date, the company has donated more than $220,000 from the sale of over four million containers of Oakhurst Egg Nog products to The Salvation Army of Northern New England.

The funds will be divided between 23 Corps Community Centers operated by The Salvation Army of Northern New England in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont based on the company’s Egg Nog sales in each of the states. These funds will be used in a variety of ways ranging from providing meals and after-school tutoring and recreation to shelter.

"The Salvation Army is so thankful to both Oakhurst Dairy and their wonderful customers for once again supporting our neighbors in need through the Holiday Egg Nog Promotion. These vital funds will help The Salvation Army to provide practical assistance and outreach programs for children, adults and seniors from around the region. We value our relationship with Oakhurst Dairy and the thirteen years of this special joint venture," said Major James LaBossiere, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army.

“At Oakhurst we are committed to giving back to our community and to making a difference,” said Bill Bennett, Chairman of the Board, Oakhurst Dairy. “The Salvation Army does so much every day of the year to help people in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont and our annual Egg Nog fundraising campaign is a way for us to support the important work they do.”

Oakhurst Dairy Egg Nog, Lite Egg Nog and the company’s new Chocolate Nog were available for purchase in retail store milk cases throughout New England from mid-October through December. This past holiday season, the family-owned dairy sold almost 400,000 containers of its Egg Nog, Lite Egg Nog and its new Chocolate Egg Nog as part of its annual campaign to raise funds for The Salvation Army of Northern New England.
