Oakhurst Dairy Raises More Than $19,000 For Salvation Army Of Northern New England

PORTLAND, MAINE and MANCHESTER, N.H. — Oakhurst Dairy, northern New England’s largest independent family-owned dairy company, announced today that its 12th annual Egg Nog campaign to support The Salvation Army raised $19,500. The family-owned New England dairy donates five cents for every container of Oakhurst Egg Nog and Lite Egg Nog sold during the holiday season. To date, the company has donated more than $200,000 to The Salvation Army through this annual tradition.

The Salvation Army consists of centers throughout Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. Each center will receive a portion of the funds raised by Oakhurst Dairy. These funds will be used in a variety of ways ranging from providing meals and after-school tutoring and recreation to shelter.

Oakhurst Dairy President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Bennett will present a check to Major James LaBossiere, the Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army of Northern New England, to benefit the Maine Corps Community Centers on Thursday, February 9, 2012, at 11 a.m. The presentation will be made at Divisional Headquarters located at 297 Cumberland Avenue in Portland. A second check presentation ceremony for the New Hampshire Corps Community Centers is planned for Friday, February 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. in Manchester (121 Cedar Street). In Manchester, Bill Bennett will present a check to Major Asit George, Divisional Secretary of The Salvation Army of Northern New England.

Oakhurst Dairy Egg Nog and Lite Egg Nog can be found in retail store milk cases throughout New England from mid-October through December. This past holiday season, the family-owned dairy sold more than 390,000 containers of its Egg Nog and Lite Egg Nog.
