Palmer, AK's Matanuska Creamery Set To Close

PALMER, Alaska — The Matanuska Creamery will close its doors for good before the New Year begins.

The president of the company, Karen Olson says they have to, after the state Board of Agriculture decided to recall its loans.

The company defaulted on state loans in August and the president says the loan recall marked the end for the company.

Matanuska Creamery first opened its doors in 2007 as an alternative to Matanuska Maid. That company closed in 2008 leaving valley dairy farmers with little demand for their milk.
