Prices Rise On Shelf For Dairy Products

Retail milk prices have risen to reflect the increase in what dairy farmers have been getting for the product.

A gallon of low-fat milk sold for an average of $3.50 in Sacramento stores last month, according to the AC Nielsen market research company.

That compares with $2.75 in February 2009, when farm prices had plunged.

The retail price includes the farm price plus costs incurred by processors, truckers and grocers.
