SMITHS Contest To Name Its Chocolate Cow Mooves Into High Gear

ORRVILLE, Ohio — The chocolate cow that graces the SMITH’S 1% Lowfat Chocolate Milk package is a little closer to getting a name. In January, SMITH’S launched its Name the Chocolate Cow contest for the newest character in the SMITH’s milk herd. Now she is only weeks away from having an identity, along with Dorothy D., Twyla 2%, Wanda 1% and Sally Skim. The deadline for entries is May 25 and the winner will be selected on June 3.

“Right now we have almost 1,000 entries, and we’re getting name suggestions from adults as well as from kids,” said Jerry Cosentino, marketing service manager for SMITH’S. “Many of the names are fun and unique, but we’re certainly encouraging more entries. We have lots of great possibilities, but no single name stands out as the potential winner quite yet.”

One grand prize winner will receive one gallon of SMITH’S chocolate milk each week for a year, or can choose the cash equivalent of the prize. Entering by email is easy. Contest participants type their cow name idea in the subject line of their email and, in the body of the message, enter only their first name and a sentence or two about why their name idea best fits the SMITH’S chocolate milk cow.

All chocolate cow name ideas should to be emailed to CowNameContest@SmithDairy.com, no later than May 25, 2011 at 11:59 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time. There is a limit of one entry per valid email address per day up to the end of the contest period. SMITH’S will contact the winner by return email. Complete contest rules are available at www.smithdairy.com.
