The Dannon Company Brings Yogurt To Super Bowl XLVI For The First Time

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — The Dannon Company announced today that it will advertise during Super Bowl XLVI, making it the first yogurt company in history to do so. Dannon's advertisement will be shown during the third quarter of Super Bowl XLVI.

"We're bringing yogurt to the Super Bowl to share with millions of Americans the great taste and unique benefits of this delicious, better-for-you food," said Sergio Fuster, Senior Vice President of Marketing, The Dannon Company. "We are committed to helping people lead a healthier lifestyle but not at the sacrifice of great taste. No matter who's playing in the game on February 5, we are guaranteed to inform and entertain the broadest possible base of Americans about the delicious and nutritious yogurt we make."

Dannon has a long history of "firsts" in the U.S.:

— In 1942, Dannon first introduced its yogurt to the U.S. market.

— Dannon first advertised its products on radio and television beginning in 1951.

— With the opening of its Fort Worth, Texas plant in 1979, Dannon became the first brand of fresh dairy to be available coast to coast.

— In 2006, Dannon pioneered the probiotics market with the introduction of Activia, which is the company's best-selling yogurt today.

"Compared to other parts of the world where yogurt has been enjoyed for centuries and is a part of every meal, most Americans chose less healthy options despite the abundance of great-tasting, better-for-you options like yogurt," said Michael Neuwirth, Senior Director of Public Relations, The Dannon Company. "From the introduction of Fruit on the Bottom in 1947 to Activia in 2006, we've been bringing Americans new and delicious ways to enjoy yogurt. With the first-ever yogurt advertisement during the Super Bowl, yogurt is ready for the big game."

Details of the commercial are still under wraps, however, Dannon is planning a fully-integrated campaign.
