Chevrette Goat Gouda: Noticeably Sweet

Chevrette Mild is a very white, sweet, goat's milk Gouda cheese made by Netherlands cheese giant Frico.

The Netherlands is famous for its mild, semi-firm cheeses such as Gouda and Edam.

According to the Frico website, the Netherlands is one of Europe's largest cheese exporters, and the Dutch are called "cheese heads" — not only because they love to eat cheese, but because the round wooden molds that the cheeses are shaped in are called "cheese heads." Also, the molds once doubled as helmets when Dutch farmers were forced to take up arms.

Gouda is a noticeably sweet cheese. This is because the whey is partially washed off the curds and replaced with water before draining, decreasing the amount of lactic acid present in the finished cheese.
