Cucina Fresca Gourmet Foods is upgrading its retail tray format for all fresh pasta offerings to improve footprint by using less plastic by weight and increase shelf life by upwards of 20 percent. The company is achieving this through an upgraded packaging machine, and the new design will be in retail coolers by the end of the year.
Cucina Fresca products are now available in more than 1,000 grocery stores, specialty shops and foodservice channels throughout North America. Recent retail wins include Central Markets and Rice Epicurean in Texas, and increased placement in Bristol Farms in Northern California and AJ's Foods in Arizona. In addition, the company's Marinara, Smoked Tomato and Tomato Vodka shelf-stable sauces are now available in more than 70 Safeway grocery stores in Alaska, Washington and Oregon states.
The company has also forged strategic partnerships with regional natural foods distributors to further its brand awareness and reach. Cucina Fresca Gourmet Foods is now partnering with Co-op Partners in the upper Midwest, as well as Jane Fine Foods in British Columbia and US Foods, a national broadliner. Notably, the company has experienced a 62% sales growth over the past five years and attributes a notable portion of its success to a focus on expanding specialty distributors serving the natural and gourmet foods markets.
