Deli Brands Of America, A Saval Foods-Owned Company, Receives BRC Certification

Baltimore, Maryland – Deli Brands of America, the maker of famous corned beef, roast beef, and pastrami, located in Baltimore, Maryland, is pleased to announce receiving the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Certification after a successful audit.

A year-long effort by Senior Management and its employees culminated in a successful audit and certification earlier this year. Ron Tew, Vice-President of Technical Services, led the Deli Brands team in designing processes and procedures to meet and exceed BRC Standards. “Although producing safe and legal food has always been the goal at Deli Brands, preparing for this was a challenge. It is a very satisfying achievement. We’ve always had a close-knit team here, but the organization and discipline required to achieve BRC certification have brought that to a new level,” said Mr. Tew. Attaining BRC certification allows Deli Brands to continue its growth in the retail, foodservice and chain accounts that it currently services.

“I am extremely proud of our ability to attain our BRC certification. This process has made Deli Brands of America a better company and I credit my entire team of managers and employees in their hard work and passion for producing safe and wholesome food products. There was and continues to be a tremendous amount of planning and hard work to achieve and maintain our goal of BRC certification,” says Jeff Saval, president of Deli Brands of America. “We have lived up to our goal to be dedicated to providing internal and external customers with the highest quality products and services with quality, continuous improvement, safety and legality being our guiding principles.”

The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) is a non-profit foundation created under Belgian law in May, 2000, to supersede the individual food safety requirements and operating protocols of countries throughout the European Union. The idea has taken root not only in Europe and its trade countries, but has expanded worldwide as a way to apply a universal food safety Standard. With over 15,000 certificated sites worldwide, the BRC is the most used GFSI equivalent Standard.
