Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery, the food producer based in what it touts as the Cheese Curd Capital of Wisconsin, earned one of seven Manufacturer of the Year Awards handed out Thursday by the state's largest business group.
Winners of the 27th annual contest sponsored by the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce were celebrated during a banquet at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee.
Ellsworth claimed the top prize in the Marketplace Opportunity Category. Through intensive marketing efforts, the dairy producer has become a destination for tourists, and roughly 75 percent of its customers travel to buy up the squeaky curds.
