Faribault Dairy Co. Grows With Swiss Valley Farms

FARIBAULT, Minn.— For the last five years, Faribault Dairy Company saw their Amablu brand become the fastest growing line of blue cheese in the country at retail stores.

Their growth presented new opportunities. That's why a merger with Swiss Valley Farms Cooperative was a good fit, said Jeff Jirik, a Faribault Dairy Co. owner.

Just over a year ago, the award-winning cheese maker became a Swiss Valley subsidiary. The Davenport, Iowa-based cooperative is owned by nearly 1,000 dairy farmers.

Jirik, now vice president and general manager of the Blue Cheese division and plant manager for Faribault Dairy Co., calls the move a "good marriage."
