Fisher Packing Co. of Portland, which operates the Fisher Meats retail meat market in Muncie, won national recognition in recent competition at the American Cured Meat Championships in Reno, Nevada.
Fisher won first place/grand champion in the hot dog/frankfurters competition, second place/reserve grand champion in the braunschweiger competition and third place/champion in garlic ring bologna.
More than 500 entries competed in this year's 26 product categories. Entries were judged on flavor, aroma, eye appeal, color and texture.
