Freybe Gourmet Foods Wins Gold At International Meat Competition

LANGLEY, BC — Freybe Gourmet Foods has once again proved to the world that their fine deli meat products are some of the best in the world, beating out hundreds of traditional European meat producers. The BC-based sixth-generation producer of gourmet deli meats has struck gold once again with 22 gold and two silver medals at the 18th International Competition for Meats and Sausages held in Wels, Austria.

Freybe Gourmet Foods competed with 109 other companies from eight different countries where more than 1,300 products were tested and judged for quality. Passionate about their meats and driven to excel and innovate in the industry, Freybe submitted a total of 24 products, all of which were awarded medals. In its 167-year history, Freybe has garnered more than 700 international awards and accolades, including 448 international gold medals for its products.

"Everyone at Freybe takes great pride in our hard work, dedication and commitment to producing the world's highest quality products. It is an absolute honour for us to have our work and products recognized by the industry and commended by international experts," says Sven Freybe, President and CEO of Freybe Gourmet Foods. "My father Henning has really set the standard for us to compete in European competitions to prove our products still maintain traditional European standards. We're proud of our legacy, history of excellence and great tasting meat products that have earned us respect and trust amongst our customers."

Established in 1844 by Sven's great-great-great Grandfather Johann Karl Freybe in Stettin, Germany, Freybe Gourmet Foods is recognized as an industry leader whose products are made with the purest ingredients without MSG, naturally smoked and 100 per cent meat — no fillers. They were the first North American company to declare their products gluten and lactose free.

Their 120,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility houses the most advanced technology and equipment to ensure the highest level of food safety and to produce the world's tastiest gourmet quality products. Sustainability is also important for the Freybe team — the facility also includes a bio-filtration system to collect rainwater from the roof and property and returning it to nearby salmon streams.
