Publix Seeks To Compete With Quick-Service Restaurants

Anyone who has stood in line for lunch meat at a supermarket knows the waits can be long.

Publix is hoping to change that with a new marketing approach that puts them directly in competition with quick-service restaurants.

Here’s what they have come up with: A program where customers can order a sub or sandwich online or on a smartphone, go to the store and pick it up at the store, no waiting.

All St. Augustine area Publix stores except the Anastasia Island store are in the program, which launched in Lakeland in August and has expanded to now include 50 stores in Florida and Georgia.
