Record Numbers For RFA's 38th Annual Conference & Exhibition

Atlanta, GA – Ross Bernstein, best-selling author of nearly fifty sports books, kicked off the Refrigerated Foods Association’s Annual Conference with his trademark enthusiasm and insightful witticism. His inspirational message received top marks from the Conference audience, which included approximately 250 attendees from across America and Canada. Other presenters and topics included the renowned Shawn Stevens, whose harrowing message “Avoiding Prison Time for Food Safety Failures” was both timely and crucial; Frank Yiannas of WalMart fame’s discussion on “Food Safety Culture”; Suzy Badaracco’s forecast on trends in the food industry; and a critical Technical Update from RFA Technical Director, Martin Mitchell.

The Conference was held at the Ritz-Carlton Resort in Amelia Island, FL on February 26-March 1, 2017. In addition to the timely presentations, the Conference also included outstanding networking opportunities and social events, including a service project and food drive aimed at combatting hunger. The annual Golf Tournament allowed avid players a chance to enjoy networking and beautiful weather on Amelia Island’s award-winning course. Suppliers displayed their wares and presented money and time saving opportunities at the Exhibit Reception and during the One-on-One CEO Sessions.

Mark Rosenfield of Reser’s Fine Foods, Venkat Munukutla of Michael Foods and Jeff Pitchford of Sun-Rich Fresh Foods were elected as new Board members, and the following were re-elected to serve 3-year terms: Josh Knott, Knott’s Foods; George Bradford, Mrs. Stratton’s Salads; Karen Bishop-Carbone, Boston Salads; Lauren Edmonds, St. Clair Foods; Bryan Westerby, The Suter Company; and Mike Swan, Keybrand Foods. Two members rotated off the Board: Mark Reser of Reser’s Fine Foods, and Timm Miller of PSSI. The RFA’s Executive Committee consists of President, Steve Loehndorf of Reser’s Fine Foods; Vice President, Josh Knott of Knott’s Foods; Treasurer Ken Funger of Mrs. Grissom’s Salads; and Secretary, Mike Swan of Keybrand Foods.
