Sartori Wins At 2011 Wisconsin State Fair

PLYMOUTH, Wis. — Sartori Company continues its long standing tradition of excellence at the Wisconsin State Fair, capturing four medals during the first round of the 2011 event.

Sartori swept the Flavored Hard Cheese Category with Balsamic BellaVitano® in First, Mediterranean Fontina Second, and Espresso BellaVitano® coming in Third. The company is particularly excited about the second place finish from Mediterranean Fontina; a new item that will be launching full-scale in July of 2011. Mediterranean Fontina is a unique item that enlists the earthy flavors of garlic, thyme and olive oil, and is warmed by the heat of Aleppo pepper.

Sartori's Limited Edition Pastorale Blend®, placed first in the prestigious Sheep and Mixed Milk Cheese category. This creation is a harmonious blend of sheep and cow's milk that is finished on the outside with hand-dusted paprika. Pastorale Blend was named the Grand Champion of the 2009 Wisconsin State Fair.

All four winning cheese types were submitted by Sartori Master Cheesemaker, Mike Matucheski. Matucheski is a longtime Sartori employee and is credited with helping to craft many of the varieties in the now famous Sartori Reserve® line. Matucheski was named the Grand Champion Cheesemaker for two consecutive years at the 2009 and 2010 Wisconsin State Fair competitions.

This year's Wisconsin State Fair featured 22 classes of cheese. In August, the first prize winners of each class will again compete in a final round. The winner of this round will be crowned Grand Champion. Both Balsamic BellaVitano® and Pastorale Blend® will have an opportunity to compete for this prestigious honor.
