Speakers Announced For September & October Wisconsin Cheese Classes

OREGON, Wis. – Wisconsin Cheese Originals announces the line-up of speakers for its September and October classes, as part of the 2012 Wisconsin Artisan Cheese Series.

On September 18, cheesemaker Cesar Luis, of Cesar’s Cheese, will share his story of learning to make cheese in Mexico from his grandmother and explain the process of crafting the only small-batch, hand-stretched string cheese in Wisconsin. Attendees will taste Cesar’s cheeses, along with several more Wisconsin artisan cheeses and learn the stories of each.

On October 18, Clare and Matt Stoner Fehsenfeld of Quince and Apple in Madison will present information about their small-batch preserves. Attendees will enjoy a pairing of four Quince and Apple artisan creations with four different Wisconsin blue and cheddar-blue cheeses.

Both classes include a complimentary glass of wine, beer, coffee or juice, and savory appetizer, along with storytelling by Jeanne Carpenter, author of www.CheeseUnderground.com, and director of Wisconsin Cheese Originals, an organization dedicated to sharing the state’s growing number of artisan, specialty and farmstead cheeses.

Classes begin at 7 p.m. at the Firefly Coffeehouse at 114 N. Main St. in Oregon, Wis., just 10 minutes south of Madison. Classes are limited to 20 attendees to ensure an intimate setting and time for questions. Cost is $22 per class and tickets must be reserved in advance at www.wicheeseclass.com .
