Cannon Beach, OR Looks At Anti-Flower Law

The question of whether to allow cut flowers at the Cannon Beach Farmers Market
is up for consideration again, a year after the City Council rejected the idea.

The issue is a sore point among some vendors and customers who participate in
the summer market, and it drew a crowd to the council chambers when it was
discussed last year.

But a request by Bob Lundy, a member of the city’s farmers market advisory
committee, has brought the issue back to the planning commission for
consideration this week.

If cut flowers are allowed for sale at the farmers market, they also will be
approved for all businesses in town, according to one of two zoning amendments
the planning commission will consider.
