Sakata Ornamentals Introduces 'Vincent' Sunflower

Morgan Hill, California — Sakata Ornamentals introduces Vincent®—a pollenless, day length neutral sunflower with a shorter crop cycle for faster production and better availability. Vincent offers a better height under short days, and will not overgrow under long days—and its short crop cycle translates to increased margins for growers.

Broad, well rounded overlapping petals form sturdy flower heads that are five inches in diameter on sturdy stems. Vincent holds up much better in transport, and with an extra ring of petals, provides a better filled and more attractive flower. The flowers face upward on strong stems, so consumers see the beauty of the bloom instead of the side of the flower once Vincent is placed in a bouquet.

Sunflower Vincent, Helianthus annuus, is available in two colors. Vincent®s Choice offers the deep orange color with a black center that customers expect in a traditional sunflower, while Vincent®s Fresh has a green heart, giving the industry a crisp alternative. Flowering time for Vincent is seven to 10 days earlier than current commercial varieties. It is also a great choice for producers of dwarf-type flowers grown specifically for bouquets.
