SunPatiens Adds A New Color

Vista, California – The stellar garden performer, SunPatiens®, has amazed gardeners from coast to coast with its almost unbelievable ability to thrive in full sun, heat and humidity. When many other annuals are “done” for the season, SunPatiens three season performance keeps it going strong until the first hard frost hits. Not only is SunPatiens great in tough spots with full sun and heat, it is available in a wide range of colors and in two plant habits. The Compact Series is upright while the Spreading Series has a mounding form.

New for 2011 is Spreading Corona, a spreading type that is ideal for hanging baskets and containers. Spreading Corona can grow up to 36” tall and 48” wide in optimal garden conditions but is more likely to reach 24” tall and 36” wide.

Over the past few years SunPatiens, and its breeder Sakata, has received many awards for garden performance and innovation. Most recently SunPatiens received an award of merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in London.

Ray French, product manager at Floragem comments, “Gardeners and landscapers are looking for low maintenance annuals and SunPatiens offer color in hot all day sun with minimal care other than watering.” French continues, “Feedback from university test gardens, landscapers, and gardeners all over the country has been overwhelming. These plants really do perform well in the sun, rivaling the other traditional full sun plants for overall color impact. SunPatiens is a no brainer for showy spring, summer and fall color”.
