Brooklawn, NJ Shoprite Recalls Store-Made Ground Beef

BROOKLAWN — The ShopRite of Brooklawn, located at Route 130 and Browning Road in Brooklawn, New Jersey has initiated a voluntary recall today of its store-made ground beef products produced in the store on Saturday, June 19, 2010. There is a possibility that the product may contain small pieces of the absorbent tray lining.

All store made ground beef products bearing a ShopRite logo with the sell by date of June 19 are being recalled. Other meat products sold at ShopRite are not affected by this recall.

“In order to assure our customers’ safety, we are advising customers who purchased ground beef products at the ShopRite of Brooklawn to return them for an immediate refund or replacement,” stated ShopRite spokesperson Karen Meleta.  “Although the absorbent tray lining may not cause an immediate health risk if ingested, we wanted to alert the public so appropriate steps can be taken.”  No injuries related to the recall have been reported, she said.
