Cracker Barrel Will Have To Wait To Learn Fate Of Grocery Market Plan

It will be at least another week before Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. learns whether it will be blocked, at least temporarily, from entering the grocery market.

A hearing on the issue ran out of time Wednesday, and will resume June 19 in Chicago, a federal judge said.

Kraft Foods Group Brands is suing Cracker Barrel over the restaurant company’s plan to sell ham and other meats in grocery stores. Kraft contends that would infringe on its trademarked cheese brand of the same name and confuse grocery shoppers.

Kraft wants the Lebanon, Tenn.-based restaurant and retail chain’s plan blocked while the case is pending.
