VANDERGRIFT, Pa. — The man who started the locally based Uncle Charley's Sausage Company nearly 30 years ago has died, his son said Monday.
Charles Armitage Sr. passed Sunday, said his son, Jon. He was 83
Founded in 1988, Uncle Charley's makes gourmet sausage and meat products that are sold in grocery stores throughout western Pennsylvania. The company expanded its distribution to New York, West Virginia and Ohio through the years.
