SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis.– Johnsonville Sausage today announced the launch of the "Best of US" contest – a nationwide call to identify the individuals, groups and events that reflect the American spirit. Now through May 13, Johnsonville is inviting people from around the country to submit nominations in two categories – Educators and Community Celebrations – that personify the values of America and make this country great.
"The Best of US epitomizes the Johnsonville Way –our internal philosophy that looks beyond the way things are, to the way things could be," said Ralph Stayer , Owner of Johnsonville. "In that same spirit, we're searching both for the educators who go above and beyond their classroom duties to make that extra impact in their communities, and community celebrations that represent unique slivers of Americana and bring all types of people together."
In a recent nationwide survey of Americans, more than 89 percent of respondents believe that volunteering is essential to establishing and maintaining strong, well-knit communities. Johnsonville has always felt a duty to give back – whether it's through volunteerism or financial support. The Best of US provides an opportunity to recognize and reward those making their respective communities a better place.
"This is your chance to thank those who are doing extraordinary things not because they're looking to be thanked but because they see a need," Stayer added. "I encourage you to highlight the selfless behaviors of the individuals and celebrations that do so much, and inspire us all. We can think of no better way to celebrate our core principles than by recognizing the individuals and groups who are living them day in and day out."
Best of US nominations will be accepted now through May 13. A panel of judges will then narrow the entries to the final 20 within each category from which the public can vote online between May 21 and June 13 for the top 10 Best of US. The nomination receiving the highest number of votes in each category will earn a grand prize of $10,000 with the additional nine finalists receiving $1,000.
Johnsonville's Best of US contest is intended to be a long-term program, with plans to recognize additional individuals, groups and events in the future.
