Lamberti Sausage: Linked To New Haven For 65 Years

Tucked into a facility in the New Haven Food Terminal on Long Wharf Drive is the venerable and acclaimed, three-generation, family owned Lamberti Sausage Company.

Founded 65 years ago by Jim and Jean Lamberti, the firm has grown from a small Grand Avenue sausage maker to a family run company that now services some 100 supermarkets throughout Connecticut. Lamberti is widely known for its quality, pure pork sausage with authentic Italian taste, and is served in many prominent restaurants and pizza establishments in the state.

“Family” is the core of the business model. Even the founders’ father, Frank Lamberti, his sister Ann, and Jean’s mother Ida, worked at the first production facility along with Albert “Viggy” Vigorito, who began his long career there at age 14, and still works at the Food Terminal plant. Even Jean Lamberti stops by now and then to check, affectionately, on the quality control of her offspring.
