The nearly century-old Koegel Meats of Flint is another being highlighted by MGA with the 2015 Al Kessel Outstanding Achievement Award. The iconic Michigan family business was nominated by its longtime customer Hollywood Markets in Troy.
The awards were created in memory of Al Kessel, an MGA board member and founder of Kessel Food Markets, which had locations in Flint, Saginaw, Bay City and Corunna from 1981 to 2000. He died in 2012.
The winners were selected by a 12-member MGA committee, said Linda M. Gobler, MGA chief executive officer.
