Anshu Pathak would like to like to see one of the world's most-overused clichés go away. He wants people to know that all meat does not taste like chicken.
Pathak is the owner of Exotic Meat Market, a wholesale supply firm that ships meats and other food not on the shelves of the typical neighborhood supermarkets or on menus at Denny's and Olive Garden. His Perris-based firm ships kangaroo, bear, lion, alpaca and hundreds of other hard-to-find foods, and he's finding no shortage of customers.
This alternative food market has served Pathak well. He came to America from India more than 20 years ago with about $20 in his pocket. Now he claims a customer base of 20,000. Hollywood actors, celebrity chefs, and thousands of niche restaurants and grocers contact him regularly.
