Pork Tariff Could Impact Prestage Plant In Eagle Grove, North Iowa Farmers

EAGLE GROVE | Later this year, Prestage Farms is opening a $250 million pork processing plant that will employ about 1,000 people in the Eagle Grove area. 

A possible looming trade war with China, however, could severely impact the plant's potential to boost the local economy. It's a development that could affect other parts of Iowa as well.

The plant was originally planned for Mason City, but a range of concerns ultimately led to a tie vote by the City Council, ending the deal.
