Top Certified Angus Beef Suppliers Recognized

WOOSTER, Ohio – As consumer demand for premium beef continues to gain momentum, beef packers and processors are at the helm for satisfying their needs. To recognize their innovative products and dedication to quality, the Certified Angus Beef ® brand honored top suppliers at its annual conference Sept. 18-20. The awards, presented at the JW Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Desert, Calif., honored packer, processor, distributor, retailer, restaurateur and cattle rancher accomplishments for the year and celebrated 35 years of delivering premium beef to consumers.

“Dedication, integrity and passion from farm to table continue to add value to the Certified Angus Beef ® brand and the businesses within our community,” says John Stika, the brand’s president. “Through 35 years of building brand equity with cattle ranchers, meat companies, chefs and retailers, we share a vision of bringing our best to the table every day. We applaud their new products, marketing and sales leadership.”

Top awards recognized suppliers for Certified Angus Beef ® promotions and product integrity.

  • Cargill Meat Solutions, Wichita, Kan., Packer Marketer of the Year, added retail-ready chubs, portioned muscle items and healthcare focus to the company’s product line. Licensed for 25 years, Cargill has committed resources to hosting educational tours in the U.S. and Canada.
  • JBS-USA, Greeley, Colo., International Packer Marketer of the Year, trail-blazes new markets and nurtures customer relationships worldwide, with emphasis in Mexico and growth strategies in Japan. Training is a top priority for staff and customers.
  • National Beef Packing Company, Kansas City, Mo., Fabricator Proficiency Award, continues to focus on growing carcass utilization. Licensed for 30 years, National Beef achieved double-digit gains in both certified carcasses and pounds sold, adding to the company’s expertise in the category.
  • Old World Provisions, Troy, N.Y., Value-added Products Marketer of the Year, continues to grow deli market share in foodservice and retail. Old World assisted retailers with consumer promotions and introduced Certified Angus Beef® brand Prime roast beef. 
  • John Soules Foods, Tyler, Texas, Commitment to Integrity, is a processor that actively trains the sales team and brokers. The company provides timely and accurate reports, shares licensing and product updates, and works closely with brand staff on new products.
  • Chihade International, Atlanta, Ga., Export Marketer of the Year, specializes in customer service and export logistics to reach consumers around the world. Food shows played a key role in aligning this newly licensed exporter with the brand.

Additional companies were recognized for the most Certified Angus Beef ® product sold during the past year.

Four companies received Million Head Awards for the number of Angus-influenced cattle certified for the brand during their tenure as licensed packers. Tyson Dakota City, Neb., and Cargill Schuyler, Neb., each received the award for three million cattle certified. A two million head award recognized Cargill Dodge City, Kan., and JBS Souderton, Pa., was honored for one million.
