DES MOINES, IA – The top sausage makers from across the state put their best to the test in the Best of the Wurst competition judged Saturday at the 2013 Iowa State Fair.
Jets Meat Processing of Waukon won first place in the Cooked Bratwurst class. Marks Locker of Rowley earned second place, and Elma Locker and Grocery of Elma took third place. An honorable mention was awarded to Edgewood Locker of Edgewood.
Top honors in the Uncooked Bratwurst class went to Edgewood Locker. Dayton Meat Products of Malcom claimed second place, and Newhall Locker and Catering of Newhall won third place.
In the Summer Sausage class, In't Veld Meat Market of Pella won first place. Newhall Locker and Catering claimed second place, and Elma Locker and Grocery earned third place.
