Friesland, Wis. – (November 2, 2010) – Alsum Farms & Produce, Inc., has launched Fast & Fresh Potatoes, a new product offering triple-washed potatoes that are packed in a microwaveable 12 oz. steamer bag and that can be consumed after just five minutes of cooking.
Fast & Fresh Potatoes are available in Red or Golden varieties and are packed at the company’s facilities in Friesland. The microwaveable steamer bag is designed to provide one or two servings.
The new product was introduced at the Fresh Summit International Convention & Exposition on October 15-18 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. The event was held by the Produce Marketing Association, a leading trade association representing nearly 3,000 companies from every segment of the global produce and floral supply chain.
According to Larry Alsum, president and CEO of Alsum Farms & Produce, Fast & Fresh Potatoes fills a key place in the company’s product line. “We are now able to offer today’s busy consumer a meal preparation solution that combines convenience with nutritional value,” Alsum says, noting that both the Red and Golden varieties are fat fee, low in calories, rich in Vitamin C and are a good source of potassium.
