Awe Sum Organics, a leading importer and marketer of organic fruit, has hired Deborah Yashar as their new Marketing Coordinator.
In her new position, Ms. Yashar will help to drive Awe Sum Organic’s branding initiatives, manage its online presence, and enhance the company’s visibility and reach through strategic marketing.
Deborah brings to Awe Sum Organics a diverse skillset in agricultural marketing and sustainable development, having worked with hundreds of small-scale farmers over the years. She helped grow the beginning farmer education program and produce distributor, ALBA Organics, into a national leader, played a key role in the establishment of certified farmers’ markets and spearheaded legislation to improve access to healthy food in California. At the Community Agroecology Network Deborah handled direct marketing of fair trade coffee and connected organic farms and apprentices from around the world for the Multinational Exchange for Sustainable Agriculture. Deborah’s background in graphic design and fluency in Spanish and Portuguese will lend well to the global undertakings at Awe Sum Organics.

Ms. Yashar earned her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies & Sustainable Agriculture from the University of California Santa Cruz. She currently serves on the Santa Cruz Farmers’ Markets Board of Directors and the California Department of Agriculture’s Certified Farmers’ Market Advisory Committee.
