Tomato grower Backyard Farms has hired a new president and CEO with extensive experience in the food industry.
The Madison-based company has hired Chuck Green to replace Roy Lubetkin, who left the company to pursue other opportunities, according to the Morning Sentinel. Green most recently was a lead sales representative for Massachusetts-based cereal maker Weetabix North America, and previously served as president and CEO of Traders Point Creamery, an organic dairy farm in Indiana. He also ran retail ice cream and restaurant chain Brigham's Inc. and worked for Ben & Jerry's and H.P. Hood Ice Cream.
Backyard Farms operates 42 acres of year-round greenhouse growing space, making it one of the largest vine-ripened tomato growers in New England, and has more than 200 employees. Paul Sellow founded the company in 2007 and later that year turned the reins over to Lubetkin, a former Agway Inc. division president.
