Birko Becomes Produce Marketing Association Gold Circle Contributor

HENDERSON, Colo. – Birko, which provides antimicrobial process aids and sanitation chemistry to the produce industry, is now a Produce Marketing Association Gold Circle Contributor.

The PMA Gold Circle supports global food safety initiatives including the Center for Produce Safety at the University of California Davis, a collaborative partnership between industry, government and the scientific/academic communities to continually enhance food safety. The Gold Circle also supports the Partnership for Food Safety Education, which provides safe produce handling messages to consumers.

“Birko is proud to be a part of the Produce Marketing Association as a Gold Circle Contributor,” said Ian Bessell, Birko’s director of business development and food safety for produce. “We especially applaud the PMA’s work in providing both the produce industry and consumers access to the most current food safety information.”

Birko’s Dr. Elis Owens, the firm’s senior chemist/microbiologist, will participate as a panelist at the PMA Fresh Summit Workshop, “Exploring Emerging Technology with Industry Innovators,” Friday, Oct. 18.
