Birko Improves Formulation For CL33 & FoamChlor 535 Cleaners For The Produce Industry

HENDERSON, Colo. – Birko, a leader in providing food safety solutions to the produce industry, today announced it has reformulated two of its self-foaming chlorinated alkaline cleaners for the produce industry, CL33 and FoamChlor 535™.

CL33 and FoamChlor 535™ are self-foaming alkaline cleaners intended for use as the workhorse sanitation products in all food processing facilities. They are ideal for use in fresh cut and produce packing facilities with light to moderate soil loading.

Birko’s senior chemist/microbiologist, Dr. Elis Owens, said, “None of our formulations are static. Birko’s R&D department receives regular technical updates from our suppliers and we use this information where appropriate to make changes in our products. In this instance we saw an opportunity to make an improvement in the hard water tolerance and overall performance of these key sanitation products.”

CL33 and FoamChlor 535™ are one-shot formulas containing sodium and potassium hydroxides, sodium hypochlorite and surfactants and can be used in both wall-mount and tank foamers without the need to add additional components, reducing chemical handling and reducing risks for sanitation team members.
