HENDERSON, Colo. — Birko, a leader in providing food safety solutions to the produce industry, today announced that Dr. Jeremy Adler will speak at a food safety workshop hosted by the California Citrus Quality Council. The workshop, "Avoiding Recalls—Managing Food Safety Risks in Citrus Packinghouses," will be held at the Visalia (Calif.) Convention Center on January 28.
Adler’s presentation, "Cleaning and Sanitizing Packinghouses to Minimize Potential for Product Contamination," will begin at 11:00 a.m.
As Birko’s Director of Technology and Innovation, Adler has a strong background in antimicrobial ingredients and processing aids, and the production plant environment. He oversees the development and commercialization of Birko’s proprietary technologies, which are designed to improve plant efficiencies and increase the microbiological quality of products and the production plant environment.
His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including The Journal of Food Protection and the Journal of Food Science. He has also contributed to research funded by the United States Department of Agriculture.
Adler earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Colorado State University, with a concentration in food microbiology.
