European Flavors Restarts From Canada

Ferrara, Italy — The relationship between Europe's fruit & vegetable produce and Canada remains as strong as ever, with the latter a major importer of high quality fruit such as pears, apples, oranges, grapes, kiwis and plums. This was recently confirmed at the convention of the Canadian Produce Marketing Association at the end of April in Toronto, thanks to the active participation of European Flavors, the programme for promoting European market garden produce.

This major event in the international fruit & vegetable calendar marks the launch of the sixth year of the programme, 50% co-financed by the European Union, 20% by the Italian Government and 30% by Italian member companies of the CSO fruit & vegetable services centre.

Within the setting of the Toronto event, the European Flavors stand introduced Canadian and North American market operators to the main European sector products of excellence, actively creating contacts between producing companies and major distribution players in the area.

This zone is, after all, particularly strategic for European fruit & vegetable exports. If we look at the figures, Italian sector exports to Canada and the USA amount to 20,000 tons – 10,000 each – which generates a turnover of more than twenty million Euros.
But North America is only one of the areas covered by European Flavors. In March the project took part in the Foodex exhibition in Japan, while from 16 to 19 September it will appear at another crucial event: the encounter with the Russian market, at its most important trade fair, the World Food Moscow.

And October will feature a return to the American continent at the PMA Fresh Summit Convention in New Orleans.
