FPFC Members Raise More Than $26,000 For Charities At Holiday Luncheon

LA MIRADA, CA – The Fresh Produce & Floral Council once again dedicated its December Membership Luncheon to raising money for worthy charities. The luncheon, held Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Sheraton Cerritos in Cerritos, CA, featured live and silent auctions of donated items to raise money for the Orange County Food Bank and the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society and raised a total of $26,044.

Attendees also brought donations of toys and food for the charities.

The silent auction featured of a variety of items from gift baskets and designer sunglasses to a framed photo of a covered bridge taken by Roger Schroeder of Stater Bros. Markets.

The live auction was conducted by Marty Craner of B&C Fresh Sales and Bill Laliberte of WJL Distributors, with guest retailer auctioneers taking the stage to auction off electronics, sports collectibles, jewelry, wine and designer handbags. Retailers who participated were: Alfonso Cano, Northgate Markets; Mark Carroll, Gelson’s/Mayfair Markets; Dan Le La Rosa, Ralphs Grocery Company; Kent Kuwata, Smart & Final; Liane Mast, Stater Bros. Markets; Jeff Schroeder, Unified Grocers; Roger Schroeder, Stater Bros. Markets; and Todd Smith, KV Mart.

In addition to the auctions, the FPFC hosted a 50/50 raffle that raised $1,017 for the charities and presented $1,017 to the lucky winner. Winner Mark Ford of Naked Juice, a veteran, donated his winnings back to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
