Frieda’s Declares 2013 The Year Of Purple

LOS ALAMITOS, CA —The saying goes, “Don’t forget to eat your greens.” But for 2013, Frieda’s Inc. encourages people to also eat their purples.

The 50-year-old produce company, known for its signature purple color, has launched a year-long campaign titled The Year of Purple. Promotions will feature Frieda’s latest purple products, as well as trends, tips and health benefits from purple hued fruits and veggies. Purple will also play a starring role in Frieda’s Valentines Day, Mothers Day and summer promotions.

So in celebration of our 50th year, we want to recognize this special color.”

In addition to making more appearances in food and fashion, Pantone, the world-renowned authority on color, has chosen African Violet as one of the Top 10 colors of 2013.

Frieda’s encourages clients and consumers to follow along on The Year of Purple journey with the Twitter hashtag #YearofPurple for the latest activities. The company is planning several social media promotions, including a “Show us Your Purple” Pinterest contest and Facebook contests with purple product giveaways. Frieda’s will also provide purple produce merchandising tips for retailers throughout the year.
