MASON CO. — Gourmet Mushrooms, Inc., a company from California, recently closed a deal and officially purchased a mushroom plant in the City of Scottville.
What used to be Diversified Natural Products is now Gourmet Mushrooms, Inc.
David Law, the president and CEO of Gourmet Mushrooms, Inc., and DNP were in discussions about making this deal since 2007. When most of the economy tanked in 2008, those talks were put off for a while. Now, it’s official.
"I think mushrooms (have) a special place in the world," Law said. "It’s a huge kingdom we know very little about. It’s a source for food and medicine. It’s really under-utilized. We find that there’s a lot of room for it to grow."
