Natureworx Expands Fresh Packaging Offerings, Warehouse

Northwest based Natureworx — providing extensive sustainable agricultural packaging solutions — has expanded its warehouse, and its offerings to customers. Offering one-stop shopping from its Beaverton, Oregon, warehouse, Natureworx is now open 24/7 as a full service distributor providing packaging items to get produce from the field through distribution.

Just in time for berry season, Natureworx is proud to be large enough to serve it’s large packing clients, yet agile to help smaller, local farmers with storage solutions so crops can get to market quickly, efficiently and beautifully labeled.

Growing its offerings to better serve:

Serving primarily the Northwest, Natureworx’s new 60,000 sq. ft. warehouse at 5051 SW Western Ave. in Beaverton, Oregon, solidifies its position as the area’s largest retailer of sustainable packaging materials.

“We can react quickly,” said Natureworx owner Tia Ross. “We needed the space. A shipment for 10,000 shipping boxes isn’t uncommon. And we are still able to serve local farmers who may just need a truckload of preassembled boxes.”

And while the new location with 10 docks and multiple entrances makes the process of getting environmentally intelligent packaging even more streamlined, Ross said their attention to detail and attentive customer service remains the same.

“We are able to adapt — to growing seasons, big orders and by using new technology,” she said. “Our ability to now prelabel clamshells is huge.” Ross refers to the ability to now place labels on the plastic containers with attached lids typically used to transport berries to market.

Another streamlining measure allows pre-assembled boxes to be delivered in a method that best works for each client. For example, the large cardboard boxes used to transport produce can now be offered in several ways:

  • Boxes can be preassembled by automated machines in the warehouse and delivered to the client via truck. Boxes made by machine are very strong and use less cardboard.
  • Flat boxes can be delivered to the client for assembly by their staff. “This is a great option for our customers with a staff that may have some downtime,” Ross said.
  • Boxes and an assembly machine can be delivered to a client for assembly on site by their staff.
  • Boxes, an assemlby machine and a crew of workers can be delivered to a client for assembly on site without disrupting a client’s staff.

“We are here to provide solutions,” Ross said. “What we are offering is extremely unique and helpful to our customers. Having these options is huge. It’s very exciting.” Natureworx made waves recently with it’s Fresh n’ Smart™ packaging that recolution-ized the produce industry. This packaging extends post-harvest shelf-life and reduces food and packaging waste, increasing revenue potential.
