New Ozark Farmers Co-Op Finds Success Selling Tomatoes In Grocery Stores

WEST PLAINS, Mo. — One recent proud accomplishment by folks in the West Plains area is the formation of a new farmers cooperative.  It's not the kind that deals with grain, but instead specializes in home-grown produce.

Craig and Patrice Jennings have grown a few tomatoes in their time.

"We've always had a small garden, but we were never really big into gardening," said Craig.

This year, they're going big: 700 tomato plants on their farm alone but, with their partners, make that 10,000.

"We can live off our farm, and we can help other farmers learn how to live off their farm and make a living," Patrice said.

They've started the Ozark Farmers Co-op.  This first year, it focuses on tomatoes.
