MIAMI – PortMiami announced that its restack facility is now open to handle containers and cargo from all carriers. The restack facility provides users with the ability to unload, manipulate and restack cargo in preparation for fumigation, inspection, or the trans loading/transfer of goods to other container.
This facility is fully approved by the USDA for the manipulation of highly mobile pests and reconditioning, and is operated by Eller-ITO. The new transfer facility measures over 960 square feet and is located adjacent to the current USDA PortMiami fumigation yard. It is equipped with 10-ton refrigeration unit to maintain the temperature below 60 degrees Fahrenheit, as required by USDA.
“We are pleased to announce the opening of this facility, which provides our customers with new options to trans load and manipulate goods, saving them time and money,” says Port Director Juan Kuryla. “Customers can now have all their goods offloaded, fumigated, inspected and released to their customers faster and at a reduced cost.”
PortMiami is the Perishables Gateway to the Americas, and the construction of this facility was in direct response to the needs of the industry. Perishables can now move safely and more efficiently through PortMiami.
